Summer Fun[edit | edit source]
Summer is here! Whether you have a full-on summer break, or continue to work through the heat, I have decided to give to my audience a list of exciting summer activities for you to do on days when the summer feels endless. Please enjoy, and let me know if you get the chance to try/do any of these activities.
1. Create your own Popsicle flavor - blend fruit and a liquid of your choice to create any flavor Popsicle you could wish for! Freeze for at least 5-8 hours before munching!
2. Start a garden! (I will be doing this myself.)
3. Ask your church about volunteering, or do some simple research to find the closest volunteer opportunities for you/your family to participate in.
4. Go biking/hiking at your local park or favorite trail. This is a great way to stay active, and enjoy nature.
5. Spend time at your favorite bookstore/library. This is a fantastic way to avoid the heat and also stimulate your mind.
6. Host a picnic/dinner for you and your friends/family. Cook a light lunch/dinner and enjoy the summer sky and bonding time with your friends and/or family.
7. Plan and take a spontaneous road trip. Find the nearest beach, destination, or historical landmark, grab a few snacks and some good music, and enjoy a mini-vacation.
8. Try a new restaurant.
9. Paint! Go to a craft store, stock up on paints/canvas/paper, and express your creativity. Perhaps you can turn on some happy music, and open the windows!
10. Experiment with food! Try new/innovative recipes, create your own, or try a cooking challenge.
11. Take a crafting/baking class.
12. Set up/attend a backyard/park movie night!
13. Backyard camping!
14. Begin keeping a journal. I begun doing this at the beginning of the year and it is one of the most rewarding things. Simply take time before you go to bed to reflect on the day, what your thankful for, and things that happened. It is wonderful to be able to go back and read your journal after a while.
15. Go to the farmers market, try the fresh produce, and buy some flowers!
16. Try puzzles.
17. Write poetry.
18. Nap!
19. Go to the nearest beach/river/lake for the day!
20. Try something new; especially, if it is something that scares you.
