It’s out of my hands. I can’t try to hold on; It’s like holding sand. Not much I can do, As it slips from my grasp, It’s gone, it’s through— Finished before I can even snap. I don’t want right now or the future either, I just want the bits and pieces of my past. Something to cling to, Something that lasts. But..."

Where has the time gone?
It’s out of my hands.
I can’t try to hold on;
It’s like holding sand.

Not much I can do,
As it slips from my grasp,
It’s gone, it’s through—
Finished before I can even snap.

I don’t want right now or the future either,
I just want the bits and pieces of my past.
Something to cling to,
Something that lasts.

But the past never lasts,
It’s over and done.
I need someone who is forever stable,
Who will stay with me when the time has gone.
